The Division of Human Resources (DHR) would like to engage a consultant to support the leadership development and coaching opportunities provided to UNICEF’s top 200 leaders. The Leadership development unit is responsible for coordinating talent strategy, leadership development, to support the senior-most UNICEF leaders and managers as they deliver results for children. The incumbent is also expected to work closely with other teams and units in DHR and the global HR community, especially those working on strengthening leadership capability and managerial capacity.
The purpose of these Terms of Reference (ToR) is to identify an individual to provide project management support and work closely with the HR Manager for Leadership Development to serve and expand the portfolio of options offered to senior leadership.

Work closely with the HR Manager in the unit to enhance senior leadership development and to promote effective coaching and related support throughout the senior management team.

Reporting to HR Manager, Leadership Development, DHR

Key Responsibilities:

Working closely alongside the HR Manager for Leadership Development, the consultant will:

1. Talent Strategy
-Support the HR Manager in the development of strategy to assess high potential candidates for senior leadership, and create developmental supports to enhance the potential of those identified as possible candidates for the SSR pool.

2. Leadership Development
-Communicate, via email, Skype and in person, with UNICEF senior leaders to explain the array of supports available and collaborate to determine the best type of coaching, teambuilding, or other development that is needed

. Monitoring and Assessment/Service Delivery Management
-Act as contractual focal point with a number of global vendors and consultants providing such services to create and manage contracts, oversee effective implementation, and track effectiveness of interventions.
-Following-up as appropriate to ensure/support actions to be taken, including the provision of a second half day follow up SMT session;

The individual to undertake the work should possess the following profile:

1. Professional experience in leadership development, performance management and human resources, university degrees and/or certifications in human resources, performance management, or international relations/affairs.
2. A proven track record in communicating with senior executives on a global level, excellent project management and attention to detail, and experience with working with external vendors to shape, coordinate and manage the global execution of services.
3. The ability to deliver the service with an excellent command of English, both written and oral (familiarity with another UN working language, Spanish or French, an asset).
4. Familiarity and prior experience with the UN system, or with the international development/humanitarian/emergency community highly desirable.
