What is it?

The Deloitte sponsored Elon Case Competition is intended to give Elon students an inside look into the world of consulting by simulating a short project experience where the students (aka “The Team”) acts as a consulting team responsible for helping a client reach its goals. The Team will experience important components that drive the decisions consultants make when preparing for and delivering client solutions. The mission of The Team is to determine the best course of action that the client should take. The competition will allow students to experience a simulated project preparation, solution creation, and client presentation.

Deloitte offered a Information Session in Elon's Student Professional Development Center on Friday, February 8th, 2013. You can listen to a recording of the session here. It may take a minute for the buffering to complete before playback begins.

Competition Format and Expected Time Commitment

The competition will be an afternoon event which allows students to experience a simulated project engagement as part of self-assigned project teams. In making this competition both dynamic and interactive, we hope to achieve a realistic representation of a “Day in the Life of a Deloitte Project Team.”

Participants will be given a case to solve in the form of a packet of materials. Teams may also be receiving surprise information from the “client” throughout their solution preparation as curveballs during the competition. Teams will then present their solutions to the client, a role played by the Deloitte Judging Team.

The Deloitte Judging Team include posing as the “client” while listening to each undergraduate team presentation, asking questions after each presentation, and finally selecting the winning team using a grading rubric.tion day. Students will be required to prepare and attend the scheduled presentation for their team on the Day of Competition.  Prior preparation time commitments for each team should involve approximately 20 hours per student throughout the semester leading up to the Case Competition. Each team will select one member to serve as leader.
