May: 20 hours preparation; June: almost fulltime. In total 100 hours.
We are looking for 4 Teaching Assistants for the course ‘Chemistry & Society: Ethical and Professional Aspects’. The goal of the course is for students to be able to reflect on the interdependence of science and society using concepts from philosophy of science, ethics, innovation theory, argumentation theories and politics and policy. They will do this by writing a paper in groups of 4 (each TA supervises one tutorial group, which consist of approximately 4 paper groups). The teaching assistant not only supervises but is actively involved in the tutorial assignments which are done in preparation of the paper. The teaching assistant will provide feedback on these assignments and functions as the supervisor of the paper.
There will be an extensive training of 20 hours in May to prepare you for this TA ship. TA-candidates should be able to teach tutorials on-campus.
The candidates:
• Have (some) experience in teaching, preferably experience with providing feedback on written assignments but this is not a must;
• Are at least third-years bachelor student;
• Have excellent oral and written proficiency of English;
• Are approachable, social and a fast responder to email;
• Have the ability to analyse situations from different perspectives, including ethical and societal considerations.

Concerning the background, the candidates preferable have:
• Followed relevant courses/tracks/programmes like: WETeM, SETS, PAES, CSEPI, minor Future Planet Innovation (previously known as People-Planet- Profit), MSc Science Communication or Science, Business & Policy
• And/or have experience in multidisciplinary collaboration, working with business or societal partners.
