Position Information

Hourly Wage
FlightSafety Academy, one of the world’s leading flight training schools, is currently seeking an Advanced CFI Flight Instructor for its Vero Beach, Florida location. The successful candidate will be an individual who has a passion for flight instructing and demonstrates at or above Commercial ACS level flight skills.

General Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is the ability to instruct all levels of CFI’s and to assist with Ground Instruction if needed, as well as:
•Complete initial Instructor Standardization in accordance with FAR 141.79
•Complete annual recurrent instructor Standardization in accordance with FAR 141

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
•Conducting flight training in accordance with FAR and FSI course outline or contract training course as appropriate;
•Teaching Ground School subjects, IAW, FSI training course, or contract training course, as assigned;
•Maintain accurate log book records of assigned students; follow FSI policy regarding control and identification of students with challenges leading to Review Board.
•Insure assigned students are scheduled for stage checks in a timely manner and ensure daily activity bid sheet is completed on schedule;
•Remaining current in all procedures and regulations;
•Maintain a minimum 80% pass rate on all stage checks of assigned students.
•Other tasks assigned by the Program Manager or Chief Flight Instructor
•Maintain recency in accordance with FAR 61.57 on file with instructor records.
•Complete periodic Line Checks/Evaluation Flights as required.

Other duties/responsibilities
•Must be organized, detail oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Experience with computer systems and programs including Microsoft Office Suite.

Supervisory Duties

Material and Equipment Used
•FlightSafety Academy airplanes and flight trainers
•Classroom equipment as necessary

Working Environment/Physical Activities
•Duties of Flight Instructor performed in classroom and training airplanes
•Outdoors, on the flight line and ramp
•Lifting at least 75 pounds or more
•Bending, stooping, climbing
•May include working on back and/or confined spaces
•Exposure to a wide variety of environmental conditions including heat, cold, wind, and precipitation
•Congested/active ramp environment with multiple aircraft

Background and Experience

The successful candidate will have had similar experience and be able to demonstrate an advanced level of professional development.

Requirements and Education
•Commercial Pilot Certificate and a valid Flight Instructor Certificate;
•Extensive 141 Experience
•Recency of experience in accordance with FAR 61.57;
•Associates or Bachelor degree a big plus;
•First, Second or Third Class Medical Certificate.
•Approximately 400 hours of dual given within the last two years and 80% pass rate for all FAA check ride sign offs to include initial CFIA (must have had at least five different students) OR 200 hours dual given as an instructor for at least two years.
