SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the company Principals and Project Manager, the Project Engineer assists in the organization, administration, and coordination of all the elements involved in construction of a project. An understanding of the construction business and the ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment are important for project success. High levels of professionalism and independent judgment are required to plan, prioritize and organize the diverse workload. It is of utmost importance to create and maintain positive and professional client and contractor relationships. This position is responsible for project coordination between MW Morrissey Construction employees, owners, subcontractors, inspectors, architects, and engineers. This position is the initial step in developing an employee’s managerial and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Comprehensive Summary
• Overall responsible for the administration of all construction projects that they are assigned
• Actively engaged in the growth and development of MW Morrissey

Preconstruction – Assist the project manager with the following:
• Always presents self as a professional ambassador of MW Morrissey Construction
• Makes safety a number one priority on all projects and office environments per OSHA and
MW Morrissey Construction policy
• Foster and establish relationships with subs, owners, and architects
• Review bid documents and identify the scope of a project
• Review subcontractor proposals
• Put together bids with the aid of office staff – identifying scope, tracking bids, acquiring bonds, tax rates, delivery of bid, follow up, etc.
• Develop baseline schedule with input from MW Morrissey Construction Team
• Provide constructive feedback to subs once project has been awarded
• Negotiate contract terms with the owner and the support of project manager
• Identify potential safety risks of the project and develop a plan on how to mitigate the issues
• Provide value engineering options to the owner/decision making team
• Develop Statement of Qualifications (SOQs) with Project Manager and outside consultants
• Participate in project interviews to potential clients as necessary


Construction – Assist the project manager and the superintendent with the following:
• Create project in Procore
• Ensure contract with owner is executed prior to start of work
• Mitigate risk and liability for MW Morrissey Construction
• Owner contract and subcontract administration
• Provide leadership, direction, and purpose for the MW Morrissey Construction Project Team (Superintendents, Project Manager, Administration, Consultants)
• Organize and lead a project "Kick Off" meeting with the Project Team
• Develop, track, and execute Project Agreements with subcontractors
• Assist Administration in the tracking of liens
• Obtain Performance and Payment (P&P) bonds when necessary
• Work with the Project Team to develop and update Project Logs throughout the course of construction, including, but not limited to; Submittals, RFIs, ASIs, cost issues, etc.
• Create, update and distribute meeting minutes as necessary
• Identify, quantify, qualify, negotiate and execute cost issues/change orders with subs, architects and owners
• Review, edit, or approve subcontractors pay apps in a timely manner
• Create, negotiate, and track owner pay apps as deemed necessary by the Project Manager
• Coordinate and lead weekly or bimonthly owner meetings
• Review and track project schedule with the aid of the Superintendent and Project Manager
• Be involved in field activities
• Perform site work reviews including but not limited to: safety, schedule, quality control, and identify possible delays and how to mitigate them
• Oversee compiling and delivery of Project Closeout material
• Perform internal Punch-list walk through(s) prior to the owner walk through(s)
• Coordinate and oversee owner punch walk through and ensure it is completed in a timely manner and to the satisfaction of the owner
• Prepare, submit and track all project required paperwork – liens, insurances, submittals, RFI’s, etc. - manage change notices in database
Post Construction
• Schedule and coordinate a one-year and two-year Warranty Walk with the owner
• Track, correct, and follow-up on warranty items

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws when needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This is a safety sensitive position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours if needed.

TRAVEL
The employee may travel when the construction site is not close to the main office/out of state or when responsible for activities at work sites.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or relevant field experience
• Construction internship or other related construction work experience required
• General knowledge of construction principles/practices required
