The UNM Clinical & Translational Science Center (CTSC), is seeking a knowledgeable, detail oriented Nurse/Clinical Research Coordinator to join our dynamic team as an On-call position at .2FTE with the potential of moving up to a full time position (1.0FTE). As a member of the national NIH CTSA Consortium, we are committed to bettering health by streamlining science, and improving the conduct, quality, and dissemination of research from laboratories to clinical practice, and out into communities.

The Clinical Research Unit provides facilities and resources to enable investigators to successfully conduct their clinical research. We are committed to using our capabilities in order to foster collaborative research efforts throughout New Mexico. We seek to reduce barriers to clinical research for both investigators and participants so that we can serve the entire research community, including minorities and the underserved.

The successful candidate will be responsible to:

• Oversee the day-to-day clinical activities for a specified clinical trials initiative and/or other medical research program in accordance with the research parameters established by the investigator.
• Administer operating procedures for the project, and oversees patient recruitment, education, and administration.
• Coordinate implementation and execution of study protocol.
• Oversee all aspects of the provision of patient care to participants, in compliance with protocol requirements.
• Provide safe, direct patient/participant care utilizing the nursing process in the ambulatory setting.
• Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
• Provide and document nursing care
• Ensure that physician's orders and study procedures are carried out
• Administer medications and perform routine treatments as outlined in the specific protocol
• Assist physician/investigators with special tests, procedures and complex treatments
• Assist team members in patient/participants care; coordinate patient/participant care in conjunction with procedures by other HSC departments and clinics.

The selected candidate must have the ability to work flexible hours, as required by the study and the ability to drive offsite to see patients, as required by the study protocol.

TERM APPOINTMENT; FUNDING AVAILABLE THROUGH 03/31/2018; CONTINUANCE BEYOND THAT DATE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY OF ADDITIONAL FUNDING. The UNM CTSC has over 35 years of continuous funding as a well established NIH FUNDED research center.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic Life Support certified.
• Experience recruiting patients to participate in research studies.
• Demonstrated work experience with blood draws and processing.
• Demonstrated work experience administering an IV.
• Demonstrated work experience with Pediatric patients.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
