Position Information

up to 20 hours per week
Undergraduate research interns will learn about remote sensing, dryland and savanna ecology and carbon cycle science and work with graduate students, post-doctoral researchers and faculty to discuss and better understand the science in which they are participating. They will contribute to data analysis and, if interested, be provided opportunities to present results at NMSU and beyondand contribute to publication of results. Ideal candidates will have some combination of the following: familiarity with dryland and/or range ecosystems, knowledge of GIS and/or remote sensing software and technologies, and an interest to learn more about dryland ecology and participate in this collaborative research program. The research will contribute to a variety of projects funded by NASA, USAID, and NMSU relating to dryland and savanna ecology and carbon dynamics.
• Actively seeking degree in related field.
• Good basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc...).
• Some familiarity with ecological field measurements and/or remote sensing preferred.
• Able to work efficiently and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail; excellent and accurate data entry skills.
