The USDA Southwest Climate Hub located at the Jornada Experimental Range on the NMSU Campus is seeking students to support research and outreach activities. The position involves diverse activities and requires strong communication and computer skills. Research centers on the impacts of warming temperatures on agriculture and water availability and is primarily modeling based using data sets from existing sources. Information synthesis focusses on the vulnerability of agricultural, range and forest systems to climate drivers. The SWCH evaluates how climate will change, what systems will be impacted and what measures we can take to reduce vulnerability. Data analysis, ArcGIS experience and strong computer skills (Microsoft office suite, ArcGIS and Excel/R) preferred.
The position requires the ability to communicate well, work independently, perform professionally and work on subjects that may be outside your expertise.
