Employment for Fall 2017. TRIO SSS tutors will provide assistance with study skills to include: textbook, reading, note-taking, learning styles, test prep, and time management. Tutors will provide academic tutoring to include individual, group and supplemental instruction to students by helping with their understanding of specific course content and materials.

Tutors will evaluate and report student progress and academic development in the course tutored. Tutors will provide assistance in the area of computer navigation and online tutorials for some courses.

Tutors will offer motivation and encouragement as well as guide students who are first generation, low income, and/or disabled to help the student succeed academically so that they may remain in school and graduate. Tutors will tutor SSS students a minimum of one hour per week, per course tutored. Tutors must work 20 hours per week. Tutors will be responsible in preparing academic reports, accountability reports, tutoring records, filing, and other assigned duties as needed. Tutors will be required to attend a week long orientation as well as weekly/monthly 3:00pm-5:00pm Friday staff, meeting along with tutor, and individual training.
Tutors must:
*Be responsible, dependable, honest, and mature.
*Be friendly, patient, and sensitive to the diversity of each student.
*Have passed all courses for the previous semester.
*Be classified a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student.
*Have received a 3.0 GPA in subject selected for tutoring/Overall GPA of 3.0.
*Have attended main campus for one semester
*Graduate students must maintain full time status of 9 hours and a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
*Undergraduate students must maintain full time status of 12 hours and a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
*Have expertise in one or more college subject areas.
*Be committed to work for at least one full semester.
*$9.50 paid by the hour.
*Must have personal cell phone for contacting students.
