Position Information

Saturdays 12:00pm - 3:15pm
1. Execute skill level appropriate activities.
2. Respond to parental concerns respectfully and appropriately.
3. Identify problems and taking corrective measures to ensure students' safety.
3. Communicate and working cohesively with the NMSU Aquatic Center team.
4. Plan. prepare and deliver instructional active learning experiences.
5. Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.
6. Observe and evaluate students' performance and development.
7. Monitor the progress of individual students.
8. Apply appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
9. Work closely with swim school supervisor to develop lesson plans appropriate for skill level and that adhere to curriculum.
10. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
12. Being accountable for assigned classes and students during those class times.
13. Never leave class unattended or out of sight.
14. Additional duties as assigned by swim school coordinator.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Knowledge of NMSU policies and procedures
* Knowledge of basic instructional methods for children ages 3 and up.
* Knowledge of basic swimming principles
* Strong interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
* Ability to maintain accurate and orderly class records.
* Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
* Ability to organize and direct activities under supervision.

Additional hours are available for individual instruction lessons.
1 year of relevant experience. (working with children, swim lessons, etc.)
First Aid/CPR/AED certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Competitive swimming background preferred.
