Interns will become familiar with the functions and daily operation of the office of a United States Senator. There are about 10 interns that serve in the Washington DC office per semester.
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in the workings of a congressional office and observe the political process in action.

Regular intern duties include: conducting research, writing letters, taking phone calls from constituents, and answering questions.
•Only juniors and seniors are accepted as interns. No political science courses are required, but a student should have an understanding of basic politics: how laws are made, the structure and function of Congress, basic awareness of domestic and global events, and knowledge of Senator Hatch's political platform.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
