Position Information

Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm
Fall 2016
Current Internship Opportunities:

Communications & Social Media Intern works closely with the Director of Communications to:
• Maintain NCFA’s social media networks and grow number of followers.
• Follow adoption and cause-related Blogs and other relevant websites and report on trends.
• Gather content for social media pages including photos, videos, etc.
• Provide tracking reports on social media websites.
• Some Web development, including enhancements to social media websites.
• Create and develop short videos and shoot/produce short adoption and cause-related videos (NCFA will provide all required hardware and supplies).
• Assist with drafting press releases and media advisories.
• Research adoption-related news.
• Assist with development of new public service announcement campaign.
• Other related duties, as assigned.

Development & Events Intern works closely with the Director of Development to:
• Learn the ins and outs of non-profit fundraising.
• Research funding opportunities.
• Organize and maintain current donor list using Raiser’s Edge.
• Correspond with current and prospective donors.
• Provide support in planning fundraising events.
• Other related duties, as assigned.

Government Relations & Public Policy Intern works closely with President and CEO to:
• Schedule meetings with federal and state policymakers to discuss adoption policies.
• Attend and present adoption best practices for select policymakers.
• Assist in the research of current issues in adoption, including foster care, intercountry adoption, and domestic adoption.
• Submitting an article for publication by NCFA a possibility.
• Other related duties, as assigned.

Specific Requirements for Interns

• Candidates should be currently studying for a B.A. or B.S., preferably with specialization in course work related to the internship.
• Demonstrated knowledge of social media and CMS/html is a plus (for communications and social media intern).
• Must provide own transportation to and from work.
• Graphic design ability a plus.
• Ability to work on location at National Council For Adoption’s office at least three days per week and up to five days per week for the duration of the internship, Monday-Friday.
